Sectra Signs Deal With Matakina
July 11, 2012: PACS firm Sectra announced it has signed an agreement with Matakina International to distribute Matakina’s Volpara breast density software integrated with Sectra’s breast imaging PACS.
The agreement with Matakina will provide Sectra’s customers with an objective way to standardize breast density assessment and integrate it into their clinical workflow, according to Sectra.
Ralph Highnam, CEO of Matakina, said “This deal with Sectra combines one of the world’s leading PACS systems with the world’s leading breast density assessment software, it’s a potent combination which we believe will lead to better healthcare and more lives saved”.
“Auckland Breast Centre is pleased to announce its purchase of the Volpara product. Radiologist Dr Mike Baker, says they were looking for an accurate and reproducible method of measuring breast density to help filter those women who need breast ultrasound as an adjunct to mammography and those who do not. Auckland Breast Centre trialed the software for two months before committing to it. Baker says ‘Volpara is another step forward in the early diagnosis of breast cancer. It gives us a rapid assessment of breast density and enables us to complete the breast imaging at the same appointment’”.
